Lights

We took Flat Brandon out for a drive to check out the Christmas lights. Our neighbors have the best display, I'm sure you can see their house from outer space!! No way Santa can miss them!

The Grand Illumination

Every year a few weeks before Christmas, Colonial Williamsburg has an event called the Grand Illumination. It kicks off the holiday season here. They set off a big fireworks display and hundreds of people show up to watch.

So last Sunday we took our chairs and walked out to a good spot to wait, in the cold, for the fireworks to start. Mac, Valerie, Flat Brandon and me.
Pretty colors...

If you click on the pic below you can see the Governor's Palace in the background.

It lasted about 20 minutes, but here's a clip that's just over 1 minute long. Awesome!

Saturday in VA

Wow, we finally made it home! Flat Brandon went with me to Los Angeles, California last Saturday, and we just got home tonight.

But first, before we left, he got to meet my friend from work, Christian...he has a Ducate motorcycle and his helmet has a monkey on it!
Hey, who's that on the back of Christian's bike?

Flat Brandon! You better hold on...

Then we were off to California...The first thing Flat Brandon wanted to do when we got to the hotel was take a nap! But we had other plans for him!

First stop, Randy's giant donut!

Then we went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena!

We saw lots of interesting things there! Like these big red lips...

And a rooster!

Here we are at Hermosa Beach admiring the big boats

And of course we had to hit Hollywood. If you click on the picture you can see the Hollywood letters up on the hillside behind us.

And last but not least, Mann's Chinese Theater.

This is the place movie stars place their hand and foot prints in concrete...we found R2D2 and C3P0.

We flew home tonight...I just tucked him in bed. He is sooooo tired, he went right to sleep!
Tune in later this week for our Turkey Day update!

The latest...

Flat Brandon has been a busy boy. Over the past week, he helped me study for finals, and went to work with me.
Here are some pictures of where I work, Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipyard...this is my cubicle. (You can click on the picture to make it larger...notice my white board says "Flat Brandon is Here") I'm going to mail Brandon's class the very same poster I have on my cube wall. It's a picture of the submarine we built called...The Texas! That's why the artist made the submarine with the head of a Long Horn Steer on the front. Yee Haw!
Hey, who is that sitting in my cube? Flat Brandon!

Here he is, hard at work. You can see a picture of his baby sister Zoey up on the wall.

Here's Flat Brandon with me in front of my building with the first ship we built here at the shipyard back in 1891.

Here's a picture of the Dorothy back in the day...

Here's a link to our company if you want to see pictures of aircraft carriers and other boats.

Weekend Update

Well this has been a busy weekend for Flat Brandon!

We set out in the car...(we always wear our seat belts)

First stop, the grocery store, so I let Flat B push the cart. (he loves that)

Next, we just had to go to the salon and get our nails done...pedicure and manicure.

The water is warm...go ahead...slip those toes in!

Soaking his feet was Flat Brandon's favorite part!

Eileen said Flat Brandon has pretty feet. She said he could come back anytime.

Uncle Mac got Flat Brandon set up to watch the Redskins game with him. Since the Cowboys aren't playing this weekend, we'll cheer for the Redskins.
Ya gotta have your game time snacks!
Check back next Monday to see what Flat Brandon will do next week!

Colonial Williamsburg Visit

Today Mac and I took Flat Brandon on a walk down the Duke of Glouster Street in Colonial Williamsburg. There are lots of cool things to see down there.

Here's the first pic of us discussing where to begin our day...

We started with a picture of us with a bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson. One of our original founding fathers. (and of course our 3rd President)
Mac and Flat Brandon...we put Flat B in the stocks. He loved it! Just look at that smile!

We just couldn't keep Flat B out of the trees! He loves to climb!

We even met two young colonial boys who posed for us:

Here's Flat B in front of the old Capitol Building:

And here's a nice lady we met outside the Apothocary (that's a drug store like Walgreens or Eckerds)

Flat B was getting tired so we stopped for a nice cold Root Beer!

This building behind us is the Governor's Palace:

More shopping...
Here's Flat B sneaking into the Toy Shop!

That was the end of our Colonial experience today. Check back later for more adventures with Flat Brandon!

He made it!

Well, Flat Brandon arrived in Williamsburg, VA late last week.

My favorite second grade nephew Brandon White sent me his Flat Brandon in the mail. I opened it up and WOW! I love the job he did coloring...it ROCKS!

So we're off to think about what activities we can do with our new visitor! Tune in and see what Flat Brandon gets into.
